We Voted!

Mommy, Daddy, Grandmama, Ysabella and I went to vote this morning.

It was so much fun. I wore a denim jacket. Ysabella wore a brown jacket. Mommy had on work clothes. Daddy had on the first thing he saw when Mommy woke him up. Grandmama had on her "take us for a walk" outfit. We were so stylish.

We voted at the First Missionary Baptist Church up the street from the house.

There were so many people. We got to see the entire church as we walked all the way around and around and around to get to the back of the line. Daddy was glad to see the inside of the church. He's been talking about taking us there on Sundays.

Mommy was surprised by the early morning turnout. She said it made her feel good that so many people were out and in line and waiting patiently. Grandmama said he was glad we left at 6:30 since we were in line by 6:40 and there were more than a hundred people in front of us.

When the line started moving, we started moving. Me and Ysa had never seen so many black people (that we aren't related to) in one place. Not even at the Walmart!

Mommy voted. Then she left and went to work.
Daddy voted. Then he left and went to school.
Grandmama voted. Then she changed our diapers and fed us breakfast.

Ysa and I tried to nap, but so many people wanted to say hi and talk to us. And you know me, I like to talk. Now that we're back home, me and Ysa are going to take a nap and get some rest. Doing our civic duty takes a lot of energy.

Wow, Xavier, you and Ysa got to watch history being made this morning! So exciting. It's a big day - better take some good naps today.
