RedRoom Update

Mommy says we should have a new computer in about two weeks. All the details with our insurance have been turned in and now we are waiting for the check. The day the check gets here, she and Grandmama are getting a new computer. That same day Mommy's scheduling to have the deck fixed.

No matter what, Mommy says we will have a computer in the house on August 22. Her fantasy football league has live draft on August 23. Plus we have the Machismo League pro and college football pools. We have to be online and accessible! (And no, we are not Alabama or Auburn fans. If it's SEC, then it's TENNESSEE. GO VOLS!) Ysabella says to tell you that she and Daddy cheer for Auburn.

Grandmama is still missing you guys. She says feel free to send her a message through us.

1st Trip to Grandpa Oscar's

We went to "the woods" for Antoinette's baby shower. But the highlight of the trip was spending time with Grandpa Oscar and Auntie Sherri. We got to see the house our Daddy grew up in. We even sleep on the floor (how cool is that?!).

Grandpa Oscar is so cool. He held us and fed us. He likes playing with us. Mommy says he'll enjoy it even more when we can actually talk instead of cry.
(me and Grandpa Oscar napping)

Auntie Sherri had the best time. She loved on us at every opportunity. It feels good getting all that extra love. Xavier and I feel so safe and secure. It is a nice feeling to have --knowing you are loved for no other reason than because you are. Mommy says we are lucky. We have the best family, and it is a large family. So there is no shortage of love and support.
(Ysabella and Auntie Sherri)

When came home late Sunday night. Grandmama was standing in the doorway waiting for us. She missed us so much. We left hugs and kisses and came home to more hugs and kisses.

Antoinette's Shower

Mommy loaded me, Ysabella, and Daddy into the car on Saturday morning and took us to Cottage Grove Alabama to go to cousin Antoinette's baby shower. We had so much fun. Almost everybody either held us or played with us. We were related to everyone in the room. We were surrounded by love. We had so much fun we fell asleep during the shower.

2nd Milestone

I found my feet this weekend. Grandmama put socks on us because it was so cold in the hotel lobby. And I took my sock off twice. Same foot. Mommy was so proud of me. She says I'm almost ready to crawl.

1st Road Trip

Mommy loaded us and Grandmama in the truck and we drove to Mobile Alabama. It was fun. Ysabella and I slept for part of the drive. But when we got to the room we played with Grandmama until we passed out exhausted. Mommy was working. She had to set up a trade show booth.

Then on Monday, we surprised Mommy and visited her for a few moments at the trade show. We were a hit! A big hit! All the vendors loved us. They came around and looked at us and made goo-goo eyes and all. We were stars. Then Grandmama took us for a walk around the block until the heat got to her and we went back inside.

Mommy loaded us in the car and we went out to eat. We were stars there too. All the waitresses came to look at us. It was hard work looking so good. I fell asleep. Mommy loaded us back in the truck and we went riding around the city. Mommy even took us to see the water. Grandmama hated it. It smelled like "stinky dead fish." There were even people fishing. Mommy took pictures.

On Tuesday we went out walking with Grandmama. She found a used bookstore. She was so happy. She even bought us some Dr Suess books. She says they never go on sale so she bought all they had (for us!). How cool. She even bought books for herself. Then we went back to Mommy. She was still working. So we hung out in the open area outside the meeting room. We were stars again. All these photographers came out to see us. I was ready. But no one had a camera. Go figure, a photographer's convention and no cameras on hand to capture our beauty.

Anyway, we got back last night around 10p. It was fun. This weekend we go visit Grandpa Oscar and Auntie Sherri. Daddy says we get to meet the rest of his family. I hope they have cameras.

Air Conditioning!

Air is a good thing. We were back in business Friday night around 11p. The air guys finished around 8p. Grandmama is so happy. She did a happy dance Saturday morning.

Inching Closer

Ok, it is after 4p and the air guys are still working. It seems that our original air unit was more than 15 years old. This means the installation was more than 15 years old. They have to update a lot of stuff in the crawl space. They are working hard. We can hear them up here (we are in the living room).

They told Mommy (she came home to check on us) that the original unit was sitting on a cement cinder block and that would have to be changed. Plus they had to take apart some of the crawl space duct work to install the interior unit. They said this is nothing special; it's par for the job. But still, it is taking longer than we originally thought.

We are surviving. Grandmama is taking very good care of us. Plus Daddy played with us for a little while before he went to work. We should have air by the time Mommy gets off work? Or shortly after.

Hey Eva

Hey Eva,
we sent you a package today. We put it together all by ourselves. (Okay, Mommy helped a little.) Ysabella and I hope you like it. We are now working on a project for Uncle Korlon and Aunt Roxanne. We are so excited. Be on the lookout next month.

We are so close to the finish line

The air guys are here. Right Now. Have been since 8a this morning.

Mommy and Grandmama got up before we did and packed the car and bundled us up and brought us home. We're hanging out with Grandmama on the couch and ottoman. She has three fans blowing on us. Plus Xavier and I are hanging out in just our diapers. We are ok.

Mommy says we will be better than ok by 3p. Cross your fingers.

Message to RedRoom

Hey RR Aunties.

We are doing well. Grandmama is tired. We are wearing her out. It seems as we get older, we stay up longer and need more amusement. Grandmama says I have an attention span of a whopping 5 minutes. I need constant stimulation. Xavier needs even more.

Mommy says we can go home tomorrow. Well, at least to supervise the air-condition guys. The air guys think they'll start around 8a or so and should be through by 3p or so. This is very important since Mommy says the hottest part of the day is between 3p and 5p. Did you know that it is hotter at 3p than at Noon? I never realized.

Anyway, we are spitting up a lot. Mommy says we are lava lamps of spit up. Grandmama says we eat too much and too fast and then our parents are silly enough to want to play with us right after we eat.

Grandmama loves hearing about your posts on our site. It makes her feel better. Mommy calls from work just to read to her. Please keep in touch. She misses you guys so much. Mommy says when we get the computer back up and running that Grandmama is going to put all of us in time-out for an entire weekend just so she can catch up on all the goings on.

Oh yeah, Xavier says hi.

Just Pictures

Mommy is missing the roll from the damage to the house. She thinks another roll is also missing. Here are a few of us to hold you over.
(Me in the hotel. looking good, right?!)
(Ysabela likes to sit up. Since we can ride in the stroller without the car seats she can sit as long as she wants.)
(Ysabella, isn't she pretty?!!)
(Me with POW2. This is one of our puppies.)

Milestone #1

Yesterday I sat up by myself for a whole 12 seconds (Mommy and Daddy counted). Grandmama even saw me sit up by myself.

In addition to this feat, I can push my upper body up off the bed and look around. After lots of practice, I can now roll over and pull my hand from under my body. All By MYSELF. I do the Gerber Baby pose very easily.

Grandmama says as soon as I figure out how to use my hands I'm going to be dangerous.

Keep your fingers crossed

Mommy has finally found an air-conditioning guy to fix the air-conditioner. The lightening strike is the cause of the outage. The coils burnt out and everything. They said you could even see the damage in the ground around the exterior unit. We get a brand new airconditioner because of it since they have to repair up to code and the unit we have is not at code (grandfathered in due to previous installation when Daddy bought the house).

We should be back home by this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed.

Then Mommy has to start the process of getting the computer issue and the deck resolved.

Still no air

Quick Note: Did you know that today is National Service Station Day (7-11)? hahahahaha

Yeah, yeah, I know. Ysabella has already looked at me crazy. Some people just don't enjoy a good joke.

So our saga is still in play. Mommy has been cussing a lot in the last two days. The air-conditioning people didn't show during the 2-hour window they scheduled. Mommy called to see where they were and was told the tech was running an hour late. So Daddy left the house and Mommy took off work to wait for the tech. The tech arrived between Daddy's leaving the house and Mommy's arriving. No phone call, no nothing.

So Mommy called again and again. Daddy even called. All they got was voicemail. So Mommy called this morning, bright and early (I was in her lap when she did it.) The woman who answered said "that's just the service industry". This did not go over well at all. Mommy said it was a good thing they were on the phone cause if she'd been looking at the woman when this was said, then Mommy would have hit her in the mouth and just caught a case.

This is so unlike Mommy. She doesn't get mad like this. Just last night she was changing my diaper. I thought I was finished. As she was swapping diapers, I took a poop right there on the bed. Some of it got on her leg. She didn't hit me. And this morning she was changing my poopy diaper and got me all cleaned, then when she swapped the diapers, I peed on her. Mommy just took a deep breath. Then she kissed me.

So Mommy got her home warranty folks back on the phone and had them re-assign her air-conditioning unit to a different service tech. She let the home warranty folks know just how completely upset she was. Mommy is very upset. She almost cried from the stress of it all.

Grandmama is ready to be back home. Living in a hotel is hard on her. She pretends it's not. But she is tired. Ysa and I are not tired. We are full of energy. We went to bed around 11p. We woke at 3:30a. Grandmama fed us and changed us. We went back to sleep around 4a. We woke again at 6:30a. Grandmama fed us and changed us. I woke at 8:15a when Mommy's alarm went off. She played with me while she got dressed for work. Then Ysa woke about 9a. We stayed up. Nap time is around 11a. Then we get up to play with Daddy before he goes to work. So we'll get up around 1p and stay up until 3p. Mommy tries to help Grandmama. So does Daddy. But none of them are sleeping well.

Mommy said she'll take me and Ysa out somewhere on Saturday and let Grandmama get some rest.

We moved to a hotel

So Mommy moved us to a hotel. It was funny. We called around first and most of the hotels cost entirely too much for one night. So then she called the places that rent by the week. Grand Larceny! Do you know how many books Mommy could buy us with what it would cost to stay at a hotel? (Mommy said, books? do you know how much art I could buy me? And Daddy said books? art? that could cover at least two tanks of gas. Grandmama said think about the fresh fruits and vegetables.)

Anyway, we found one that was resonably priced and moved in for the night.

Grandmama was so happy to be in an air-conditioned room again. We were ok. Grandmama and Daddy gave us cool water wipe downs all day yesterday so we didn't suffer from the heat the way they did. Mommy was at work. Her building has air-conditioning.

Mommy spent part of yesterday trying to get folks to fix all the stuff wrong.

David, our contractor to fix the deck, says he'll be out this weekend to write up an estimate.

David, (a different David) our HVAC guy, said the exterior unit was damaged, we had a freon (sp?) leak, and that the coils going into the house were bad. He then said for Mommy to call the home warranty folks cause it will probably be cheaper to replace the entire unit than to isolate the leak, fix the coils and fix the damaged exterior piece.

So Mommy is dealing with David (yes David) at the home warranty place to coordinate a different HVAC guy to come and determine what damage was caused by the lightening and what was caused by old age and wear.

David, (yet another David) our electrician, came and fixed what was wrong and then told Mommy to install some type of super-duper surge protector for the circuit box that way if this ever happens again, we won't lose the stuff in the house, just outside it.

Then Mommy called back the insurance guy, Hank. Hank is the adjuster. He said some very different stuff than the lady Noel she talked to yesterday. So she is trying to get all this figured out.

Daddy is taking us to the other hotel where we will stay for the week. Grandmama is happy about being in air-conditioning as the temperature is supposed to be 92 degrees with a heat index of about 100.

Ysabella and I are ok. We like moving around.

Lightening Struck the House

So Ysabella is in time-out. She started updated the blog while I was out walking with Daddy. I graciously let her finish.

Then....

Saturday night the house got struck by lightening! (Ysabella says no it didn't it was a tree in the back yard.) Anyway,

1) lightening struck the tree
2) the surge traveled down the tree to the ground
3) dug a 3" wide and approximately 4" deep trough from the edge of the tree to under the back deck
4) the surge hit some rock or brick or paving stone under the deck and exploded up through the deck
5) blew a hole in the deck sending part of the deck to the roof top
6) blowing out the electricity until Dad flipped the circuit breaker
7) messed up the airconditioning unit --we have no air...in July...in Alabama-- (Mommy cussed when she said it)
8) killed the downstairs DVD player
9) messed Mommy's tv in her room
10) messed up the electricity in our room (no lights) and the basement (no lights)
11) and worst of all, it killed our computer at home (I am dictating this to Mommy over the phone)

We barely survived yesterday with no air. Mommy had to buy two more fans. It is hot. We are with Grandmama, in the living room, with 3 fans on us trying to keep it cool. Mommy says if she can't get it fixed by tomorrow she's moving us to a hotel.
(p.s. You know Mommy took pictures. Check back later to see the damage.)

4th of July

Since Xavier is outside walking with Daddy, I am updating.

So we have had a bang up 4th of July weekend. On Thursday, Grandmama went off with Aunt Renee (I was named for her) and we stayed with Mommy. When Xavier realized Grandmama was gone, he cried and cried and cried. Mommy let him cry too. She played with me since I was being good. Xavier cried until he fell asleep. I got to keep Mommy to myself. He did this three times on Thursday and each time Mommy let him cry until he fell asleep. He didn't do it at all on Friday.

On Saturday, Mommy got us up and bathed and dressed and in the car. We went to take pictures with Jim and Frieda. It was so much fun. Then Mommy and Daddy took us to the movies. We went to see Hancock. It was a good movie too. "Call me crazy" is going to be my new-new thing. Just test me. Anyway, I watched almost the whole movie. I only slept for 30 minutes in the middle. Mommy and Daddy were so proud. I didn't cry or nothing. I did talk to the screen though. Mommy says that's ok cause "our people" talk to the screen all the time. Xavier slept through the whole movie. He's such a baby. (Xavier says he's not a baby he was just tired from being a supermodel.)

We left the movies and went to the store then we went to get something to eat. Xavier and I were calm on the ride and in both stores....well until Mommy started eating. Then we cried. Daddy held me while he ate. I stopped crying. Daddy got to finish eating. Mommy held Xavier. Xavier cried and cried. People from all over the store came to see us. Everyone said I was so pretty. (Xavier says so what.) Daddy took Xavier from Mommy so she could eat. He stopped crying. Then I started crying cause I wanted to eat too.

We had a great time.
